My wife and i returned to Vietnam in 1999 and in 2004. Lighters like this were all over, in many stores. Why is it that they all appear tto be burned or tarnished? Why are the names only first names? Why is the quality of the engraving real poor quality?
I brought back two lighters and they look nothing like these. Someone is perpetrating a fraud, and many people are falling for it.

I have mine also, but they don't look like the lighters pictured.
My wife and i have been back to Vietnam twice, 1999 and 2004. These lighters are all around in stores.
I don't believe that they are authentic lighters that belonged to U.S. personnel.

Larry R. Gies U.S.M.C. '66-68.
